Dr. Nagashettappa Biradar

Dr. Nagashettappa Biradar brings a strong research background, holding a Ph.D. in Biomedical Image Processing from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, where his work centred on denoising and segmentation of echocardiographic images. He also earned an M.Tech. in Industrial Electronics from Visvesvaraya Technological University and a B.E. in Electronics & Communication from Gulbarga University, both with First Class with Distinction.

His research in biomedical signal and image processing has been widely published in reputed peer-reviewed journals, attracting over 390 citations on Google Scholar and more than 235 across Scopus and Web of Science. He serves as a reviewer for leading international journals, including Computers in Biology and Medicine, IEEE Access and Biomedical Signal Processing and Control.

In his previous leadership role, Dr. Biradar led a significant phase of academic and institutional advancement. Through focused strategic interventions, he drove a near doubling of student admissions, secured ₹3.1 crores in competitive research funding, and introduced forward-looking academic initiatives such as virtual laboratories and specialised Centres of Excellence. His efforts also earned the institution recognition under the Super30 (RETE) initiative, reflecting his ability to elevate academic standards and align engineering education with global benchmarks.

 His expertise extends to university-level policy-making. As an Academic Senate Member and Chairman of the Board of Studies at VTU, Belagavi, he has played a pivotal role in shaping curricula for UG, PG and Ph.D. programmes, with a strong emphasis on emerging technologies and industry relevance.
