The RVITM library is a hybrid library and a hub of knowledge. The library is the liveliest place on the campus, with a friendly and pleasant environment. It encourages and extends learning and research assistance. It has a rich collection of books, journals, magazines, online databases and other academic resources. The library is the backbone of academic and research activities and facilitates access to a huge number of e-resources and other academic resources through various online databases. Trained and committed library staff are at the service of the academic community to support with the relevant information.
All the library functions are fully automated using the LIBSOFT Library Management System and enabled with RFID for surveillance and circulation operations. It is connected with high-speed internet and Wi-Fi with multimedia systems to access various licensed and open-access electronic resources in all subject areas.
Library Working Hours
The library will be kept open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on all working days.
Borrowing Parameters
The following are the categories of borrowing facility for different user group subject to the fulfilment of conditions noted below.
Circulation
The library follows an Open Access System. One can pick any book of their choice from the shelves and may refer to or borrow it.
Reference
The library has a good collection of reference books. The reference books are meant to be used within the library and cannot be borrowed.
Internet & Wi-Fi Facility
The library has 10 computer terminals for internet use and to access e-resources. Internet and Wi-Fi facility is available in the library.
Plagiarism Check
R.V Institute of Technology & Management Library offers Plagiarism Check service using Turnitin and DrillBit plagiarism tools. Users can check similarity themselves to promote Academic Integrity and to maintain a standard of honesty, fairness, responsibility, respect and courage of all students.
Email & WhatsApp Alerts
The library sends an alert on new arrivals, current awareness and important news and news clippings through WhatsApp and Email. Also keeps users updated about their library transactions.
User Orientation
The Library offers information literacy and user orientation programmes to its users on library facilities, services and the subscribed resources.
Library Instructions
- Do not misplace the books on the shelf. After reference, please leave books on the reading table or replace books in the right shelf at the right place.
- Only RVITM students and staff are allowed to enter the library and utilise the library facilities.
- Silence must be maintained in the library.
- Students are not allowed to remove or to change the arrangement of the chairs or tables in the library.
- Wearing an ID card is a must for getting access to the library.
- Personal belongings: Bags, folders, blazers, helmet etc. are not allowed inside the library.
- Library staff are not responsible for things kept in the personal belongings rack.
- Discussion is not allowed inside the library.
- ID cards are not transferable. The borrower is responsible for the books borrowed on his/her card.
- Using Mobile Phones in the Library premises is strictly prohibited.
- Keep your mobile phones in silent mode.
- Using electronic gadgets and copying devices is strictly prohibited in the library.
- Make use of the OPAC facility/Library Catalogue to locate the required book in the library.
- Books and textbooks issued are not allowed to be taken inside the library.
- Show the books and other materials which are being taken out of the library to the staff at the circulation counter.
- If the books are removed from the shelf (if you don’t want to issue them), then keep them separately.
- Students are forbidden to lend any documents from the library to a third party.
- Loss of an ID card should be reported to the librarian immediately. A duplicate card shall be issued against a formal application with an appropriate fine.
- Reference books, journals/magazines and newspapers are meant for reading in the library only.
- Students should replace frequently used periodicals such as newspapers, journals and other magazines at the right place for the convenience of other readers.
- Writing or marking in the books is strictly prohibited. Should not tear or mutilate pages.
- Library users must comply with copyright laws.
- In case any damage is caused to any library reading material or property, the person concerned shall be liable to pay the replacement cost of damages.
- Edibles and refreshment are not allowed inside the library.
- Students are welcome to recommend or suggest a new book request through the proper channel with a prescribed book requisition form.
- Anyone found guilty of misbehaviour/misconduct, his/her membership will be cancelled.
- Do not save any folders on the digital library desktop; in case anything is saved on the desktop, it would be deleted before closing the system.
- After using the fan, lights, etc., make sure you switch them off.
- NO-DUE certificate will not be issued to the users unless they return all the library books and pay the overdue dues.
Note: Violation of these Rules will call for punitive action against the user.

Copyright and License Restrictions for Library Books and E-Resources
All the resources of the RVITM library are licensed and copyrighted. Electronic resources listed on the RVITM Library page are restricted by license agreement. Access to the electronic resources is restricted to RVITM students, faculty, staff, and research scholars. Users may read, stream, download and print important part and chapter of the materials, subject to copyright.
The user has to adhere to the following terms and conditions of use:
- Use of the digital library resources can be accessed only for academic and research purpose.
- RVITM digital resources are prohibited for commercial use.
- The RVITM users are not permitted to share their login credentials with other organisations.
- Reading, downloading and printing individual research articles and part of book chapters is only allowed for personal use.
- Publishing or posting licensed documents/materials on any media or on electronic networks is strictly prohibited.
Copying, printing and scanning of the whole document (book, journals/magazines etc.) is strictly prohibited.
