Department of Physics

Engineering physics is a common subject in the first year for all branches of engineering under Visvesvaraya Technological University. Department has very good infrastructure, well equipped spacious laboratory. The department teaches Engineering Physics theory as well as laboratory experiments for all the Engineering branches. Faculties are well qualified, experienced and highly motivated and also involved in interdisciplinary research activities.

To be a dynamic and competitive center of excellence in teaching, learning and research in Physics to ensure that the technical needs of students are addressed.

  2. Imbibe inquisitiveness in Physics applications in engineering problem solving.
  3. Encourage faculty and students towards research, innovations and projects.

Short Term Goals

  1. To encourage students and enable them to transform into an organized and efficient engineering professional with practical knowledge, best aptitude and right attitude.
  2. To arrange lectures on the recent developments in Science and Technology.
  3. To take up projects and guide the students.
  4. To strengthen interdisciplinary research.
  5. To encourage students to participate and present papers at national and international conferences.
  6. To publish articles, research papers, books/chapters to help Engineering students.

Long Term Goals

  1. To impart quality education and promote students to high standards to compete with global curriculum.
  2. To achieve academic excellence through planning, management, intelligence, motivation and efficiency.
  3. To organize National and International Conferences.
  4. To set up ‘Inter Disciplinary Research and Development Centre, hence take up funded projects from national funding agencies.
  5. To promote the department as Centre of Excellence.
  6. To develop the significant infrastructure for high standards of research in the thrust area of Materials Science for new innovations towards future technology.
